Digital Dental Technology at Queen City Family Dentistry

In the following educational dental video, experienced Buffalo dentist Dr. Samantha Smith, discusses the dental technology at her practice.

Which types of new technologies do you have?

Our office features several advanced technologies designed to enhance patient care. Our digital X-ray system, for instance, emits significantly less radiation compared to traditional X-rays, and the images are instantly accessible on a computer for quick review. We also utilize an Intra-Oral camera, which allows us to take detailed photos of each patient’s teeth. This technology enables patients to visually track the progress of their dental treatments before, during, and after each procedure.

Why do dentists need to take X-rays?

X-rays play a vital role in our patient care, allowing us to see areas of the mouth that are otherwise hidden, such as the spaces between teeth and the bone structure. X-rays are crucial for detecting abscesses, hidden cavities, and other chronic dental issues that may not be visible during a regular exam.

Dental X-rays use minimal radiation, and our digital X-ray technology reduces this exposure even further. For perspective, the radiation from our digital X-rays is equivalent to less than two minutes of sunlight exposure.
